Photos - faces, people & animals

A face close-up, a full person, and an animal. Only the subject itself is pixelated in each “After” image - everything else in the photo stays visible and unchanged, and every photo is shown in full, never cropped.

Photo 1 - A person's face

Pixelate: just the face itself - the hair, ears, and background stay exactly as they are.

After: the same photo for Photo 1 - A person's face with face pixelated - the rest of the photo is unchanged
After - face pixelated, rest of the photo unchanged

Photo 2 - A full person

Quick answer

To redact an email address from a screenshot, open BlurTool, paste the screenshot and click Find sensitive info to detect every address automatically (or draw a solid Cover box over each one by hand), check signatures, headers and quoted replies, then download. A solid cover fully replaces the text so the address cannot be read or recovered. The screenshot is processed locally and never uploaded.

How to hide an email address in a screenshot

  1. Paste the screenshot

Press Ctrl/Cmd+V or drop the file. Solid Cover is already selected.

  2. Find every address

Check the From, To and CC lines, signatures, quoted replies and any avatars that show initials.

  3. Detect or cover each one

Click Find sensitive info to detect addresses automatically, approve them, and add a box by hand for anything it missed. Keep opacity at 100%.

  4. Download

Export a flattened PNG or JPG and share it.

Key facts

  • Email threads often repeat addresses in headers, signatures and quoted replies; each copy needs to be covered.
  • BlurTool detects email addresses automatically with on-device text recognition (OCR); the screenshot is never uploaded.
  • Automatic detection can miss addresses in tiny, blurry or stylized text, so review the image before sharing.
  • BlurTool processes images locally in the browser; the image file is never uploaded to a server.
  • Exports are flattened PNG or JPG files at the original resolution, with no layers and no copied EXIF metadata.
  • BlurTool accepts PNG, JPG or WebP images up to 20 MB, 8000 px per side and 40 megapixels.
  • The manual editor is free and needs no account or sign-up.

Frequently asked questions

Why hide email addresses in screenshots?

Visible addresses get scraped for spam and phishing, and sharing another person's address can break their privacy. Covering them takes seconds.

Is blurring an email address enough?

Not reliably. Blurred or lightly pixelated email addresses can often be guessed from their shape and length. Use a solid cover.

Can BlurTool find email addresses automatically?

Yes. Click Find sensitive info and BlurTool reads the text in your screenshot on your device, finds email addresses and phone numbers, and covers the ones you approve. It is part of Pro, and new accounts get a 30-day free trial with no credit card.

Does this work on mobile screenshots?

Yes. BlurTool runs in mobile browsers, and you can add a screenshot from your photo library.

For the screenshots you share every day

Revenue dashboards, sale threads and buyer chats, support tickets, invoices, and email threads all hit the same problem: one visible email, API key, or phone number can undo the whole post. The default here is a solid cover - the only effect that guarantees nothing shows through - with blur and pixelate available for softer details. New to it? Open one of the photo or document examples above and practise first.

Your next screenshot is one cover away from safe.
