Photos - faces, people & animals

A face close-up, a full person, and an animal. Only the subject itself is pixelated in each “After” image - everything else in the photo stays visible and unchanged, and every photo is shown in full, never cropped.

Quick answer

To blur a face in a photo online, open BlurTool, add the photo, drag a box over the face and choose Pixelate or Blur at a high strength, then download. Cover the whole face including the hairline and ears if the person must not be recognized. The photo is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

How to blur or pixelate a face

  1. Add the photo

Drop, paste or choose the photo. It stays on your device.

  2. Box the face

Drag a box over each face. For full anonymity, cover the whole head or the whole person.

  3. Choose the effect

Pixelate with large blocks reads as clearly anonymized; Blur looks softer. Use a high strength and 100% opacity.

  4. Check and download

Zoom in to check nothing identifying is left, then download at full resolution.

  • Exports are flattened PNG or JPG files at the original resolution, with no layers and no copied EXIF metadata.
  • BlurTool accepts PNG, JPG or WebP images up to 20 MB, 8000 px per side and 40 megapixels.
  • The manual editor is free and needs no account or sign-up.

Frequently asked questions

Should I blur or pixelate a face?

Both work for faces when the strength is high. Pixelation looks clearly redacted and is harder to mistake for a soft-focus photo; blur keeps the photo looking more natural.

Can I blur several faces in one photo?

Yes. Draw one box per face. Each box can have its own effect and strength.

Is a blurred face enough to hide someone's identity?

Not always. People can be recognized by hair, clothing, tattoos, badges or location. Cover the whole person if anonymity matters.

Is my photo uploaded to blur the face?

No. BlurTool processes the photo locally in your browser and never uploads it.

For the screenshots you share every day

Revenue dashboards, sale threads and buyer chats, support tickets, invoices, and email threads all hit the same problem: one visible email, API key, or phone number can undo the whole post. The default here is a solid cover - the only effect that guarantees nothing shows through - with blur and pixelate available for softer details. New to it? Open one of the photo or document examples above and practise first.

Your next screenshot is one cover away from safe.
