Photos - faces, people & animals

A face close-up, a full person, and an animal. Only the subject itself is pixelated in each “After” image - everything else in the photo stays visible and unchanged, and every photo is shown in full, never cropped.

Photo 1 - A person's face

Pixelate: just the face itself - the hair, ears, and background stay exactly as they are.

Quick answer

To blur a license plate online, open BlurTool, add the car photo, drag a box over the plate and choose Pixelate (or a solid Cover) at full strength, then download. Cover the whole plate including the frame, region code and any dealer sticker. The photo is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

How to hide a license plate in a photo

  1. Add the photo

Drop, paste or choose the car photo. It stays on your device.

  2. Box the plate

Drag a box over the whole plate, slightly larger than the plate itself. Add one box per car if there are several.

  3. Choose the effect

Pixelate with large blocks is the usual look for plates. Use a solid Cover if the plate must be completely unreadable.

  4. Download

Export a flattened PNG or JPG at full resolution and post it.

Key facts

  • A visible plate can be used to look up a car's history and, in some countries, to find or impersonate its owner.
  • Plates also show up in reflections, rear windows and the background of other photos; check before posting.
  • Pixelation with large blocks or a solid cover is safer than a light blur for short strings like plate numbers.
  • BlurTool processes images locally in the browser; the image file is never uploaded to a server.
  • Exports are flattened PNG or JPG files at the original resolution, with no layers and no copied EXIF metadata.
  • BlurTool accepts PNG, JPG or WebP images up to 20 MB, 8000 px per side and 40 megapixels.
  • The manual editor is free and needs no account or sign-up.

Frequently asked questions

Should I blur my license plate when selling a car?

Many sellers do. A plate is not secret, but hiding it in online listings stops strangers from copying it for cloned plates or linking the car to your address. Buyers can see it in person.

Is a blurred plate unreadable?

Only if the effect is strong. Light blur on a short plate number can be guessed. Use Pixelate at a high strength or a solid Cover.

Can I hide plates on several cars in one photo?

Yes. Draw one box per plate. Each box can have its own effect and strength.

Is my car photo uploaded?

No. BlurTool edits and exports the photo in your browser and never uploads it.

For the screenshots you share every day

Revenue dashboards, sale threads and buyer chats, support tickets, invoices, and email threads all hit the same problem: one visible email, API key, or phone number can undo the whole post. The default here is a solid cover - the only effect that guarantees nothing shows through - with blur and pixelate available for softer details. New to it? Open one of the photo or document examples above and practise first.

Your next screenshot is one cover away from safe.
